Dan Rooney Named Obama's Ambassador to Ireland

Dan Rooney rewarded by Obama

Dan Rooney, the owner of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers franchise, has been named Ambassador to Ireland by President Obama. Blogs like Hugging Harold Reynolds and Nice Pick, Cowher have bitten into this nice piece of payola. Take nothing away from Dan Rooney as a man or what he’s done for the city of Pitt sburgh and the NFL, but let’s also call a spade a spade. Dan Rooney gave Senator Obama a cash advance for his campaign. President Obama is simply paying him back.

“No good deed, or in this case large donation, goes unrewarded,” says Hugging Harold Reynolds. And since it’s St. Patrick’s Day today, perhaps Mr. Rooney can do something about those confiscated shamrock seeds!
