At first, I had no idea what was going to happen in my communications class I was taking at my community college. I was really worried that it would be a lot of busy work to teach us how to speak in a professional setting. After my first day of class, I knew that this class was going to benefit me in many ways. I read the book, "Crucial Conversations." We would read this every day outside of class, complete a journal entry, and then discuss what we learned in class. It was a good learning process for me. I am glad I got the opportunity to read the book. It taught me to keep away from violence and silence. I learned to master my stories when having an important conversation with someone. I also learned to start with the heart.
