Popsicles are really good

I remember as a kid we went through popsicles like crazy. Eventually my mom taught us how to make our own popsicles so we didn't spend so much money on buying them. I had so much fun making them in whatever flavors I wanted. It didn't work as well with the Jell-O mix as it did usually with things. I really liked the store bought popsicles better than the ones I made. I couldn't figure out what was different. I think Popsicle is actually a brand name of an ice pop. Does it have to be on a stick in order to be considered an ice pop? That's what I'm curious about.
