Moneymaker was ‘4-year bootcamp’
A recent interview with Tom Kapinos, former executive producer of “Dawson’s Creek,” has garnered massive media attention. According to E! Online, Tom Kapinos said that running “Dawson’s Creek” was:
“A four-year boot camp. It was like going to TV grad school and learning how to run a television show. … I inherited the very awkward college years, and I almost ran the show into the ground.”
When questioned about what made running the show such a challenge, Tom Kapinos replied: “It was the four monstrous actors at the core of it.

It can only be assumed that Tom Kapinos was referring to Katie Holmes, James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams. The four played, respectively, Joey Potter, Dawson Leery, Pacey Witter and Jen Lindley, the show’s main characters.
“They were very young, and they got very famous, and they made life miserable for any writer or producer on the show,” Tom Kapinos said.
Tom Kapinos has to worry about his career and reputation about as much as he worries about needing an instant payday loan now that he writes for successful TV series “Californication.” He did say that the show was “lucrative and fun,” but that has been overshadowed by his comments about the “Dawson’s Creek” stars.
Lucrative and fun
“Dawson’s Creek” had a good run for six years on the WB network.
