A cast member from Music Television show "Teen Mother," Portwood, could encounter prison time from assault charges. Allegedly, she attacked Shirley various times. Shirley is her former fiance and daughter’s dad. Authorities got involved after footage of Portwood assaulting Shirley had been aired.
Possible felony charges hit Amber Portwood
The MTV reality show "16 and Pregnant" had Amber Portwood in it initially. The trials of being a young mother were put into a new show called "Teen Mom" which had some of the girls focused on in each of the episodes of "16 and Pregnant" taken and recruited for. In 2008, Leah Shirley was born to Portwood and father Gary Shirley. Shirley and Portwood were happy then. They were engaged to be wed. Allegations of assault happened just a couple months ago, reports CNN. Evidently Shirley was recorded being hit by Portwood numerous times. The T V show showed the footage as part of it. Then the police decided they needed to step in. Currently, the Madison County District Attorney’s Office has filed for probable cause. This would be bad for her if the filing went via. She'd be charged with one felony at the very least.
Violence within the history
Shirley had three incidents of domestic violence happen towards him. Portwood was involved in all three. USA Today reports that in August 2009 she assaulted him in front of their daughter. Violence was documents by MTV twice in 2010. One had been in June when the other was in July. The footage that has landed her in legal hot water aired in September. Police went and got statements from both Portwood and Shirley. After the episode in October they did this. She could face three years in prison and fines of $10,000 if convicted.
Child with Father for now
The father of the child is now responsible for her. Two charges are felony counts since the incidents were in front of the child. Numerous hope that as a result of the young age of the child, she won't remember what happened.
