I’ve been very interested in family history

My grandmother was born in Yonkers, New York in May 11, 1933. Her mom died when she was sixteen. Her brother died when she was thirteen. At the age of sixteen she was raised by her dad and her sister. She married my grandfather when she was 23. They had 4 children. My grandmother had a 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in a Master's Degree.

My grandfather was born in Berlin, New Hampshire in January 13, 1928. He worked for IBM as a programmer for 35 years then retired. Now he volunteers at the elementary school teaching kids how to use computers. He married my grandmother and have been married for 51 years. He was a cook in the Army during the Korean War.

My grandparents have an interesting background. My great grandfather was born in Luzzano, Benevento, Italy in July 28, 1894. When he was 16, he came to the United States to work. He fell in love with the United States but loved one thing more. He had to go back to Italy and marry my great grandmother. He married her at the age of 17 to bring her back to the United States. They came through Ellis Island and saw the Statue of Liberty. They had seven children. They raised the kids on a farm in New York. He worked as a gardener for the Kennedy's and used to do their gardens when President Kennedy was a baby in the playpen. He invented and got a patent on the thornless rose and sold it to Burpee. This is how he paid for his farm in New York.

When my grandfather first came to the U.S. he heard about a group of Italian men and joined the mafia. He did not know the mafia was bad at the time. When my great grandmother found out that he was in the mafia, she told him to quit. He said you can't quit the mafia or you will be killed. She said she would take care of it. When two of the mafia came to the house, she told them he was quitting. They said he wasn't allowed to. She was very strong from working on the farm so she picked them up and threw them out the second story window. They never came back and he was out of the mafia. My great grandmother died young at the age of 58 from Pneumonia.
