In, 2007, a boys cross country team set out on a mission to get to nationals. The team was led by by three exceptional cross country runners. That season was by far the biggest challenge. During the summer before the season, two of the runners trained by running sixty miles a week to achieve this goal. One on the other hand had never trained in the off-season before and only ran 40 miles a week all summer. Though the training was hard, having team-mates that shared big aspirations made things so much better. They only lost one race during the year and it occurred when most of the team was ill. At the national qualifying meet there was a pile up of runners 200 yards into the race and yes, one of the team members was in it. when the one was able to get up they found themselves in dead last, with the whole race in front of them. Trying not to let the other team members down because they put in so much work, the one told themselves they were not going to be denied. So from 1 50th place the one pushed has hard as they could and moved up and up until… at they were at finish line, in 23rd place. The other two placed 2nd and 10th. They were not denied, and they overcame the huge odds and went on to nationals where they finished 6th in the United States of America!
