Decembrow: Because a unibrow will advance feminist causes

The feminist website Feministing.com wants women to grow unibrows. It is something to do with charity, although the purpose is never nailed down precisely. Just like famous artist Frida Kahlo, Feministing.com readers and others who want to join should allow the wax and tweezers go in a show of support for those whose lives have been touched by cancer. They’ll have all month to figure out "Decembrow," however.

Movember goes gradually into Decembrow

Last month's "Movember" was where men were asked to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer research by growing mustaches causing females to respond with Decembrow. The Daily Caller explains that women are being asked to stop grooming for this or groom themselves also. This is what Feministing.com is asking. Herbal aids and even eyebrow pencils are considered acceptable.

The campaign is not really interested in the fact that Decembrow will be more noticeable on women than Movember was on men. As Feministing.com puts it:

"While women in the U.S. generally rock two groomed brows, I say let's be inspired by Movember and take this opportunity to let our facial hair grow … for a cause."

What’s Decembrow have to do with it?

Since Feministing.com sponsors the Decembrow campaign, many think it’s about furthering feminism. This is exactly what CEO Penny Nance of Concerned Females for America thinks. The Daily Caller explains that Nance is just like many others who don't see any type of connection here.

"While I applaud the (Movember) effort to raise awareness and funds to stop prostate cancer, I find it curious that feminists would choose to embrace facial hair and wonder how that is different than any other month of the year," said Nance.

Author and columnist Erica Jong said she "(applauds) anything that galvanizes women to show the power (they) have and often fail to use." This was after the Daily Caller asked for some advice. Jong does say that the position with Decembrow would have been better done if something like Women's and childrens’ welfare was focused on rather than facial appearances.
