Glock semiautomatic pistol favored by both police and criminals

The semiautomatic Glock- is preferred by military establishments and police departments. The Glock-19 comes with a clip that contains a maximum of 33 shells. The man who tried to kill an Arizona congresswoman, Jared Lee Loughner, was utilizing one. The Glock-19 Loughner used in his attack was illegal during a federal assault weapons ban on the books from 1994 to 2004. This guy might not have had to take out a large pay day loan just to get this gun if the assault weapons ban had been extended.

The lightweight, lethal Glock

Glock semiautomatic pistols are compact, lightweight weapons made out of synthetic polymers. In the U.S., the Glock-17 is used by NATO forces and over 60 percent of law enforcement agencies. Ten rounds go into each one. The six-shooters were exchanged for Glocks in the 1990s when police needed some way to fight all of the criminals armed just as well. The Glock is something loved by soldiers and police. This is because it can be reloaded just as easy as it can shoot fast with the 9 mm bullets.

No permit required if you want a Glock in Arizona

There are 33 rounds that can be held by the Glock-19. Apparently, Arizona shooter Jared Lee Loughner, used this gun. Cho Seung-Hui also used a Glock-19 to kill 32 people in the Virginia Tech massacre. Loughner bought his Glock-19 legally. There wasn't a concealed weapons permit required staring in April 2010 after Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed SB 1108. SB 1108 allowed Loughner to carry his Glock in public, walk up to Rep Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., shoot her in the head and kill six others including a federal judge. Bystanders subdued Loughner before he could reload his Glock.

The expiration of the Glock-19 in the assault weapons ban

In 1994, the Glock-19 was said to be illegal by an assault weapons ban. The assault weapons ban prohibited gun manufacturers from producing magazines holding more than 10 rounds. The National Rifle Association pressured the House to not pass the assault weapons ban extension after it expired in 2004. It did pass in the House though. When comparing a Glock-19 and a credit card, the gun is easier to get. That is how it is in the U.S. Arizona gun laws allow anyone to carry a concealed Glock-19, whether or not they know how to use it.
