Enemies poisoning buffets was real terror plot

The U.S. has largely been shielded from terrorism since the ordeal of 9/11, but that doesn’t mean enemies didn’t have an eye on the salad bar at your favored restaurant. Reports indicate that a key United States intelligence source has labeled the threat of terrorists poisoning buffets as “credible”. This has understandably set the U.S. food sector on full alert.

Terrorism on buffets a real thing to fear

According to the Department of Homeland Security, several key members of the U.S. hotel and restaurant community have met with the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration regarding the danger of enemies poisoning buffets and other foods. Taking nothing for granted and erring on the side of caution, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has pronounced that her organization “operates under the premise that individuals prepared to carry out enemy acts are in this country.”

Ricin and Cyanide utilized in ‘Operation Hemorrhage’

CBS News accounts that a plot was uncovered earlier this year and thwarted. The plan consisted of al Qaeda terrorists distributing ricin and cyanide to various salad bars. Internet al Qaeda propaganda suggests that these attacks would be an extension of recent cargo attacks seen around the world. Their goal in Operation Hemorrhage, the name of these attacks, was to generate so many small problems that there would be a nationwide epidemic.

You will find reportedly dozens of enemy websites that teach how to make cyanide and ricin. The way in which the drug would be manufactured help lead the authorities to al Qaeda. Original symptoms would come across as simply food poisoning. According to St. John’s University professor of pharmaceutical sciences Dr. Susan Ford, a mere 250 milligram dosage is fatal.
